The children were thoroughly enthralled throughout the whole story.  We felt that Mrs. Swallow's creativity with the likeness between owner and pet was very creative and enjoyable.  The vivid color and detail was so pleasing to the eye you wanted to explore it for yourself.  Again, the uniqueness of the characters was an exceptional spin on a children's book.

I think this book would be excellent to use with beginning readers...it makes use of rhyme and different animal sounds, which are important for pre-reading skill development. This book would be a welcome addition to any school library.
